Bartolome Island
Found at the northeast of the archipelago, it is a small island of 1.2 km2 and approximately 114m high. It was named after David Ewen Bartholomew. The main attractions are the beaches, volcanic landscape, the pinnacle rock and small colony of Galapagos penguins, which can be seen in the water in your fishing trip or resting on the rocks.
Once atop the island we´ll have the opportunity to enjoy the volcanic beauty, the staple of the Galapagos Islands. Its arid landscape is almost alien, with red, orange, green and bright black lava formations. We will also see the famous Galapagos penguins, the only species that breeds in the two hemispheres, north and south.
It’s biggest attraction is the Pinnacle Rock, an eroded, collapsed tuff cone at the edge of the ocean. Here you will find the Galapagos penguin, sea turtles and several sea birds. Upon hiking the island, you will find a sighting point where you’ll be able to see one of the most classic landscapes in the archipelago. In the trail you will find interesting lava formations. It will be a fantastic experience through a landscape reminiscent of mars.
