North Seymour Island: It is located north of the Baltra Island, and has a path of about 2 km (4 miles). North Seymour is one of the islands formed by volcanic underwater lifting lavas. It has a Palo Santo forest, and in the rest of the island, the Opuntia cactus and the sesuvium are frequent. North Seymour is a small island with a variety of wildlife such as colonies of frigatebirds, the only island where you can see their courtship throughout the year (magnificent frigatebirds as well as great frigatebirds).
If you visit us at the time of blue-footed boobies nesting, you can also observe their unique dance that makes them so special for visitors. In the island you will also find sea lions, swallow-tailed gulls, land birds such as finches, warblers, doves and some reptiles like Galapagos land iguanas and lava lizards.
Upon arrival it’s recommended to be careful because sometimes the waves hit this site of the island making our landing spot wet and slippery but just depending in the season. The walk is rocky but worth it due to the incredible variety of fauna. We strongly advise visitors to keep near the posts along the trail due to the area being a nesting site for marine iguanas.
